I met Zack on Reddit. He was new in town and was looking for someone who could show him around the San Francisco Bay Area trail systems. I was free, I was bored, I said “sure”.
On Father’s Day, I met with my Brother-In-Law Rick and we rode through his Walnut Creek neighborhood hills on the mountain bikes.
In September of 2018, I took a 3-week road trip around the western states with my camera and my mountain bike. While on that trip, I randomly drove through the Rocky Mountains and, like many before me, fell in love with Colorado. On the advice of a friend, and while looking for a place to ride for the day, I stopped in Winter Park to ride my first ever bike park.
Skypark was originally a winter wonderland theme park. It reopened in 2016 featuring shopping, food, a Santa Clause chalet, wedding and catering accommodations, and hiking and biking trails.
The start of the year is usually a pretty cold time. It may not be as chilly as Chicago or Vermont, but we reach below freezing temperatures fairly often and it chills our Summer-acclimated bones. That’s why it was a real treat to have a weekend of 68ºf clear skies to get out and enjoy the bike with the family.
