A long ride from the top of Mount Umunhum, all the way to the bottom, and home again.
As the proud owner of a new Ibis Ripmo v2, I wanted my first ride to be one for the books. To that end, I called my Patrick, riding buddy, and we met at the Soquel Demonstration Forest lot to ride the Flow Trail.
Our climb up to Pilot Rock was an exercise in pain and endurance. My legs were shot by the previous day’s 16+ mile ride with over 2000 feet of climbing up steep inclines and over rocky, rooty obstacles. Pilot Rock was an ascent that, to put mildly, hurt. But the payoff was worth the effort!
My Brother Pete and I have been riding together for a long time. It was a great break to be able to ride mountain with Pete. Rancho Canada Del Oro was the perfect spot!
My neighbor recently got a new bike from his Brother-in-law. It’s a first-generation Yeti, and it’s awesome. He has been dying to get it out on the trails near our house, so I finally arranged the time and we got the kids together and headed out.
It’s been almost 2 weeks since my ride in Los Gatos, and three weeks since the Shelter In Place order went into effect here in California. The Los Gatos Ride was WAAAY too crowded for my taste, and I’m going nuts not being able to ride.
Just a short and sweet update on the fallen tree situation on the trails near U.C. Santa Cruz. It looks like the entire trail has been opened up and is safe to ride again.
I took an unexpected drive over the hill to Santa Cruz, CA and rode the UC trail system. It was a great ride that was filled with a lot of interesting challenges.
